Visa for COP28

Dear national focal points,

Dear presidents and coordinators,

Dear Sir or Madam

The Secretariat refers to the Notification to Parties and Observer States - United Nations Climate Change Conference COP 28/CMP 18/CMA 5 and also refers to page 6 of the mentioned Notification regarding visa arrangements for COP 28 in the United Arab Emirates.

Please note that all foreign nationals, including UNLP holders, entering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the COP and pre-sessions will require a visa and must have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into the UAE.

The Government of the United Arab Emirates is pleased to announce that participants registered for COP 28 will receive free of charge an electronic visa called "Special Entry Permit", hereinafter referred to as "COP 28 visa for the United Arab Emirates".

Upon approval of registration via the UNFCCC online registration system, participants will receive a specific link for each delegate to apply for the visa as part of the UNFCCC registration confirmation e-mail.

Processing of the COP 28 visa application for the United Arab Emirates may take up to 72 hours after the application has been sent. Participants are therefore strongly encouraged to take urgent steps to apply as soon as UNFCCC registration is confirmed. The status of the application can be checked using the link in the visa application e-mail (received after submitting the visa application).

The COP 28 visa for the United Arab Emirates is a single-entry permit, valid for 30 days from the date of arrival. Please consult the COP 28 Presidency website for further information.

Please note that all questions concerning visa arrangements should be addressed directly to visas@unfccc.int.
